Edward Steichen for Stehli Silks, 1926

The course of Photography History introduced me to several amazing photographers. I fell in love with the work of Edward Steichen. Especially, with a series he did for the fabric company Stehli Silk. He took several boxes of matches, a very ordinary object, and created different patterns also playing with the element of light and shadow. These were meant to be part of textile pattern designs. For my final project, I decided to make my interpretation of Steichen’s work. I took an ordinary object: disposable forks, and played around with the composition, the background, and the lighting. My favorite images are the ones in which the figure of the fork is not evident.
