




This is the visual part of a philosophy of images course final essay. The task was to make a self-portrait and what I did was to question the real possibility of making it. Based on the theories of Hal Foster, Deleuze & Guattari and Jean Baudrillard, the real essence of a being cannot be portrayed, but the assigning of definitions is always in the eyes of the beholder. That is why this is a picture frame that has strips of mirror in a 45º angle to create a visual effect as you move around it. From one angle you can see the person being 'portrayed' but as you slowly move, you are seeing a fragmented portrayal of yourself.
